CVS Health is looking for a Pharmacy Intern to bridge the gap between pharmacy school and professional practice. As a key member of our pharmacy team, you will apply your didactic learning in a real-world setting, following a structured training plan to build the skills needed for a future Pharmacist role.
What You'll Do
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap focused on Key Learning Experiences (KLEs) to build aptitude in pharmacy operations.
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure smooth operations and safe, accurate, and prompt prescription fulfillment.
- Operate as part of the team by consistently applying Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), best practices, and effective communication.
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at each workstation (production, pick-up, drive-thru, drop-off) for safe prescription fulfillment.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy, creating heartfelt moments, and solving or escalating patient problems.
- Offer to counsel, field medical questions, and solicit patient medical history under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify prescriptions or facilitate medication changes where state regulation allows.
- Provide in-the-moment coaching, training, and mentoring to pharmacy team members while sharing best practices.
- Complete basic inventory activities as directed, such as putting away deliveries and completing cycle counts.
- Contribute to a high-performing team, embrace a growth mindset, and actively seek opportunities to expand clinical and technical knowledge.
- Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs, voluntarily traveling to stores in the market to work shifts as needed.
- Understand and comply with all relevant laws, regulations, professional standards, and CVS policies to ensure patient safety and privacy.
- Deliver additional patient health care services (e.g., immunizations, point-of-care testing, staffing offsite clinics) where allowable by law and supported by training.
- Support immunizations by completing licensure/training for Technician Immunizer status, educating patients, monitoring for adverse reactions, and tracking patient information.
What We're Looking For
- Accepted into, or actively enrolled in, an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Must possess, or be in the process of obtaining, valid intern and/or technician licensure as required.
