About the Role

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is looking for a Pharmacy Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing pharmacy and drug management systems under the guidance and supervision of the facility in charge. At the IRC, we build teams of professionals who promote critical reflection, power sharing, and objectivity to deliver the best services to our clients.

What You'll Do

  • Order, receive, verify, and record all incoming pharmacy items.
  • Issue and record items requested by consumption units.
  • Dispense medication to patients and clients.
  • Provide drug information to patients and other healthcare professionals.
  • Maintain pharmacy safety by adhering to infection control procedures, policies, and regulations.
  • Ensure proper filing and storage of all documents in the hospital drug store.
  • Monitor consumption of items in the consumption units.
  • Ensure proper storage of all items in the pharmacy.
  • Regularly monitor expiry dates of all items.
  • Monitor poorly utilized and slow-moving items, advising prescribers accordingly in consultation with your supervisor.
  • Monitor stock levels to avoid unnecessary stockouts in consultation with your supervisor.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of the cold chain in the pharmacy.
  • Offer pharmaceutical advice when required.
  • Assist your supervisor in preparing consumption reports.
  • Conduct regular physical inventory to ensure compliance of records.
  • Ensure efficient distribution of nutrition commodities at the pharmacy.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to upholding the highest standards of integrity and professional conduct.
  • Promote a safe and respectful environment for clients, colleagues, and communities, promptly reporting any safeguarding concerns.

What We're Looking For

  • A Diploma in Pharmacy from a recognized institution.
  • Must be enrolled by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board.
  • A valid practice license.
  • At least one year of hospital pharmacy experience.
  • A good team player.
  • Good communication and writing skills.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Ability to work ethically in a demanding environment.
  • Good customer care skills.

Team & Environment

You will report to the facility in charge/supervisor.
