Allegheny Health Network is hiring a Pharmacist for our inpatient team at Jefferson Hospital. In this role, you will optimize patient care by promoting rational, safe, and cost-effective pharmaceutical care, including drug dispensing, intravenous admixture programs, and providing drug information.
What You'll Do
- Process prescriptions, conduct prospective drug review, and independently assess medication orders to identify, prevent, and resolve drug-related problems.
- Ensure medications are accurately and efficiently compounded and dispensed.
- Provide accurate and timely drug information to health professionals, patients, and the public, documenting interventions and outcomes.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to manage drug therapy, protocols, and guidelines.
- Assist in supervising and directing the work of pharmacy technicians, students, externs, and other support personnel in daily operations.
- Train pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, pharmacy residents, and students in their duty areas.
- Oversee daily inventory maintenance purchases and assure compliance with controlled substance regulations.
- Contribute to department operations through computer functions, refilling medications, generating labels, and answering phones.
- Participate in performance improvement and regulatory compliance efforts, maintaining an environment of safety.
- If serving as Night Pharmacist, triage and delegate nightly activities, serve as primary interface to resolve medication-related problems, and troubleshoot information technology and automation issues.
What We're Looking For
- A Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy or a Doctor of Pharmacy degree (Pharm D).
- Licensed or eligible for licensure as a Registered Pharmacist in the state of PA and/or NY at hire, or commitment to sit for boards and obtain licensure within 120 days.
Nice to Have
- Hospital experience is preferred.
