The YMCA of Southwest Florida is hiring a Personal Trainer to develop and assist clients with customized fitness programs. Reporting to the Executive/Wellness/Program Director, you will ensure safe, effective, and engaging workouts that support members' health goals.
What You'll Do
- Design and implement safe, effective, and enjoyable fitness programs tailored to each member's needs.
- Keep accurate records of members' progress and monitor proper exercise form and technique.
- Ensure clients sign the YMCA Personal Training Contract prior to starting sessions.
- Plan and instruct individuals, small groups, or classes following YMCA standards.
- Contact clients regularly to follow up on their fitness program progression.
- Enter availability into scheduling software at least one week in advance and schedule clients accordingly.
- Arrive promptly for clients, maintain a professional demeanor, and adhere to uniform requirements.
- Discuss and promote all other YMCA programs.
- Motivate members to commit to long-term participation.
- Respond to and report accidents and incidents to your supervisor immediately.
- Interact with members who aren't current clients, assisting with machine usage and exercise advice.
- Encourage first-time users to complete the orientation process and medical form.
- Identify equipment needing maintenance and inform your supervisor.
- Ensure all participants wear appropriate exercise attire and footwear.
- Make sure all equipment is put away correctly following sessions.
- Attend regularly scheduled, mandatory staff meetings.
- Uphold all staff safety requirements, including cleaning protocols throughout the day.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Successfully complete the Association's background screening requirements.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of exercise equipment, general weight lifting, health and wellness, and the ability to demonstrate exercises.
- Adherence to a drug/alcohol/smoke free workplace policy.
- Employment is contingent upon completing required Level 2 background screening through the Florida Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse.
- Current Personal Training certification from a nationally recognized organization.
- CPR/First Aid/AED Certifications required.
- Annual completion of YMCA Blood Borne Pathogens training.
- Annual completion of YMCA Child Sexual Abuse Prevention training.
- One year or more of experience in fitness.
- Completion of Staff Safety Requirements and Cleaning Protocols.
Team & Environment
You will report directly to the Executive/Wellness/Program Director.
Work Mode
This is an onsite position.
