As a Payroll Specialist at Shell, you will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of all payroll runs in Australia. You will play a key role in compliance, driving continuous improvement, and supporting our global payroll initiatives.
What You'll Do
- Execute and manage the Run Payroll process, ensuring timely completion of scheduled payroll runs.
- Resolve issues and errors that block payroll completion.
- Handle reconciliation and associated reporting, ensuring compliance with Shell FCM controls and payroll accuracy.
- Ensure timely execution of finance postings and third-party payments, including bank file balancing.
- Monitor Australian statutory and legal changes, collaborating with Country Payroll Managers for timely implementation in payroll systems and processes, including STP Reporting, Payroll Tax, and Superannuation.
- Assist the Country Payroll Manager with self-audits, risk management, and control management to ensure operational compliance.
- Lead Continuous Improvement projects focused on cost reduction and process performance.
- Maintain CI project schedules and documentation.
- Engage with multiple local senior stakeholders, regulators, and tax authorities.
- Provide advice and support to the local HR policy team and HR Operations on process clarification.
- Ensure payroll records and control files are properly retained and declared per Group Record Management policy.
- Handle employee queries via Salesforce promptly, meeting SLA requirements.
- Actively participate in and support the implementation of all changes impacting Australia payroll, including the Global Payroll Strategy.
What We're Looking For
- Significant work experience in in-country Payroll Operations with a strong understanding of Australian legislations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Proven experience in driving and sustaining service excellence.
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Solid project management capabilities, including planning, execution, and stakeholder coordination.
- Excellent interpersonal and analytical skills, with a collaborative and solution-oriented mindset.
- Fluent in English, both written and verbal, with strong communication skills.
Nice to Have
- Working knowledge of SAP HR/Payroll systems; testing skills or experience will be advantageous.
