SSM Health is hiring a Patient Financial Services Representative I to determine the patient financial component for services. In this role, you will estimate, communicate, and collect patient financial responsibility while providing essential financial counseling to patients and families.
What You'll Do
- Assist patients in understanding their insurance benefits, including co-payment, deductible, and co-insurance responsibility.
- Educate patients regarding financial assistance programs when appropriate.
- Obtain patient demographic information and request financial responsibility.
- Determine patient qualification for coverage by third-party payers and inform financial counselors, patients, or family members of status.
- Verify all commercial insurance coverage, workers' compensation insurance, TPL insurance, and state and government programs.
- Document and resolve patient concerns or inquiries received via telephone, mail, or walk-in within an established time frame.
- Validate the Master Patient Index according to departmental policy.
- Interpret physician orders.
What We're Looking For
- High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience
- No prior experience required
Nice to Have
- Experience and understanding of revenue cycle, physician and hospital billing, and EHR
