About the Role
The Patient Coordinator serves as the primary point of contact for patients, managing scheduling, records, and communication to support efficient clinical operations and high-quality patient service.
Responsibilities
- Schedule patient appointments and procedures
- Verify insurance eligibility and benefits
- Maintain up-to-date patient records
- Support clinical staff with administrative tasks
- Respond to patient inquiries via phone and email
- Coordinate referrals to specialists
- Confirm patient demographics and contact details
- Assist with check-in and check-out processes
- Manage prescription refill requests
- Prepare charts and documentation for appointments
- Follow up on outstanding authorizations
- Communicate test results per protocol
- Handle patient billing questions
- Escalate complex issues to supervisors
- Ensure compliance with privacy regulations
- Update patient status in electronic systems
- Support patient education initiatives
- Coordinate with labs and imaging centers
- Track patient follow-up requirements
- Maintain supply inventory for front desk
- Process patient feedback and satisfaction surveys
- Assist with onboarding new patients
- Monitor appointment waitlists
- Support telehealth scheduling
- Adhere to office policies and procedures
Nice to Have
- Associate degree in healthcare administration or related field
- Experience with Epic or similar EHR platforms
- Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) credential
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish
- Prior experience in outpatient clinics
- Knowledge of HIPAA compliance
- Experience handling patient complaints
- Familiarity with telehealth platforms
Compensation
$45,000 - $52,000 per year
