DaVita, whose name means 'giving life,' is hiring a Patient Care Technician to join our team in Baltimore, Maryland. In this role, you will provide empathetic, direct patient care to individuals with end-stage renal disease, building long-term relationships and educating patients on dialysis-related topics as part of an outpatient clinic team.
What You'll Do
- Provide direct one-on-one patient care to deliver safe, comfortable, and hygienic dialysis treatment.
- Monitor patients before, during, and after dialysis treatment, including measuring and recording vital signs, patient observations, and hemodialysis machine setup.
- Care for multiple patients simultaneously.
- Build long-term relationships with patients suffering from end-stage renal disease who receive treatment on average 3 times per week.
- Educate patients on kidney dialysis-related topics.
- Work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse as part of a cross-functional team of clinicians.
What We're Looking For
- A sincere desire to enter the healthcare field to care for other people in need.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be comfortable working around blood and needles.
- Must be comfortable mixing acid or bicarb.
- Physical and mental ability to work long hours (some shifts are 12+ hours) on your feet.
- Willingness to train and work across multiple clinics within the territory as needed.
- A flexible schedule to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Nice to Have
- Previous healthcare experience is a plus, including: BONENT Certified, Certified Hemodialysis Technician (CHT), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), or Phlebotomy certification.
Team & Environment
You will work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) as part of a cross-functional team of clinicians including technicians, nurses, dietitians, social workers, and leadership.
