Allegheny Health Network is hiring a Patient Care Technician I - Respiratory for a full-time, onsite role at Jefferson Hospital. This position provides direct patient care, assists Registered Nurses with acutely ill patients, and performs unit coordination activities related to admissions, discharges, and transfers.
What You'll Do
- Provide, obtain, perform, and document direct patient care activities including activities of daily living, vital signs, specimen collection, intake and output, blood glucose testing, point of care testing, bladder scanning, and patient transport.
- Participate in quality and patient satisfaction initiatives such as bedside shift report, hourly rounding, falls prevention, hand washing, and maintaining a clean environment.
- Accurately document vital signs, weights, I&O, restraints, specimen collection, and all other treatments, reporting changes in patient condition to nursing staff.
- Participate in unit activities including supply stocking and equipment cleaning, checks, and retrieval.
- Assist with non-direct patient care unit coordination, including activities related to patient admissions, discharges, and transfers.
- Maintain the patient/family environment and perform general unit upkeep.
- Practice medical asepsis and respect patient dignity and privacy.
- Respond appropriately during emergency situations.
- Use accurate verbal and written communication and document patient care appropriately in the electronic medical record.
What We're Looking For
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to read, write, and follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to perform basic mathematics
- Basic computer skills
- CPR – American Heart Association
- Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
- Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
- Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
Nice to Have
- Acute care experience within the last 3 years
- Currently enrolled in an ASN or BSN program and completed at least one clinical rotation

Team & Environment
You will work under the general supervision of the Registered Nurse for stable patients and under direct supervision of the Registered Nurse for acutely ill/complex patients. You will receive specific work assignments from the Charge Nurse and/or Care Team Leader.
