Allegheny Health Network is seeking a full-time Patient Care Technician for its 12C Cardiothoracic Surgical Intensive Care Unit (CTSICU) at AGH. In this role, you will provide direct care to patients and coordinate non-direct patient care activities, performing basic nursing procedures for stable patients and assisting RNs with acutely ill patients.
What You'll Do
- Provide, obtain, perform, and document direct patient care activities including activities of daily living, vital signs, specimen collection, and patient transport.
- Perform basic procedures such as blood glucose testing, bladder scanning, and intake/output measurement.
- Accurately document vital signs, weights, I&O, restraints, and treatments, reporting changes in patient condition to nursing staff.
- Participate in quality and patient satisfaction initiatives, including bedside shift report and hourly rounding.
- Assist with patient exams, treatments, and procedures.
- Maintain the patient/family environment and perform general unit upkeep, including supply stocking and equipment cleaning.
- Participate in unit coordination duties related to admissions, discharges, and transfers.
What We're Looking For
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to read, write, and follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to perform basic mathematics
- Basic computer skills
- CPR – American Heart Association certification
- Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
- Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
- Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
Nice to Have
- Acute care experience within the last 3 years
- Current enrollment in an ASN or BSN program with at least one clinical rotation completed
Team & Environment
You will work under the general supervision of the Registered Nurse for stable patients and under direct supervision for acutely ill/complex patients. Assignments are received from the Charge Nurse and/or Care Team Leader.
Work Mode
This position is fully onsite at AGH.
