Allegheny Health Network is hiring a Patient Care Technician to join the 12C CTSICU (Cardiothoracic Surgical Intensive Care Unit) at Allegheny General Hospital (AGH). In this full-time role, you will provide direct patient care, assist with non-direct care unit coordination, and perform basic nursing procedures for stable patients under RN supervision.
What You'll Do
- Provide, obtain, perform, and document direct patient care, including activities of daily living, vital signs, specimen collection, intake and output, blood glucose testing, bladder scanning, and patient transport.
- Participate in quality and patient satisfaction initiatives like bedside shift report, purposeful hourly rounding, falls prevention, and maintaining a clean environment.
- Accurately document patient information and report changes in patient condition to the nursing staff.
- Support unit operations by stocking supplies, cleaning equipment, maintaining the patient/family environment, and performing general unit upkeep.
- Respond appropriately during emergency situations.
What We're Looking For
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to read, write, and follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to perform basic mathematics
- Basic computer skills
- CPR certification – American Heart Association
- Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
- Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
- Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
Nice to Have
- Acute care experience within the last 3 years
- Currently enrolled in an ASN or BSN program and completion of at least one clinical rotation
Team & Environment
You will work under the general supervision of a Registered Nurse for stable patients and under direct supervision for acutely ill or complex patients. Assignments are received from the Charge Nurse and/or Care Team Leader.

This is an onsite position located at Allegheny General Hospital (AGH).
