About the Role

Virtua Health, a partner in health devoted to building a healthier community, is hiring a Patient Care Coordinator for its Access Center. This full-time role supports the Central Cardiology Scheduling Team by coordinating the entire patient experience. You will be the first-line administrative contact, providing concierge-like service through scheduling, documentation, insurance coordination, and follow-up.

What You'll Do

  • Monitor and perform daily administrative coordination of the patient experience through scheduling, follow-up diagnostic testing, and ongoing communication with patients, physicians, and multi-disciplinary departments.
  • Prepare charts for new patient consults by coordinating testing reports, insurance referrals, and other necessary documents.
  • Assist with patient supplemental testing coordination and scheduling, including provider tasking, prescription coordination, and patient follow-up.
  • Enter data and documentation into the patient health database and practice logs.
  • Assist with patient billing inquiries and initiate and track pre-authorizations for supplemental testing.
  • Provide administrative support to Physicians and the Practice Manager regarding correspondence, patient records, and office information.
  • Assist the practice office team with administrative functions like scanning, faxing, and copying patient records.
  • Assist as needed with front desk functions, patient check-in/check-out, and answering practice phone calls.

What We're Looking For

  • Two (2) to Four (4) years of practice experience, preferably in a surgical environment.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Experience with an electronic patient health record is required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Medical Terminology experience is required.
  • A High School diploma or equivalent is required.

Nice to Have

  • Previous experience as an Administrative Patient Navigator.
  • Experience with the Next-Gen electronic health record system.
  • An Associate’s degree.
  • Graduation from a medical assisting program.
  • A current Medical Assistant certification.
