Penn State is looking for a Part-Time Practical Nursing Academic Coach to join the Hazleton Practical Nursing Program for the 2025-2026 academic year. In this role, you will provide vital academic support and coaching to help nursing students achieve their goals.
What You'll Do
- Teach effective study strategies, time management, organization, self-advocacy, and test-taking skills.
- Assist students in identifying strengths and weaknesses and setting realistic academic and career goals.
- Provide proactive support by reaching out to students, monitor academic progress, and intervene when issues arise.
- Address personal barriers to success, fostering self-efficacy and a growth mindset.
- Take on additional duties such as teaching first-year seminars, leading workshops, or training peer mentors.
What We're Looking For
- An active Pennsylvania Nursing license.
- A BSN degree.
- Experience in Acute Care Medical Surgical, Long-term care, or Community Health Nursing.
- Knowledge of educational best practices and student development.
Nice to Have
- An MSN degree is preferred.
- Nurse educator experience is recommended but not required.
