Strayer University is seeking a Part-Time Assistant Professor to teach quantitative courses in Managerial Economics for the Jack Welch Management Institute. This online, remote position involves delivering graduate-level instruction, developing curriculum, and supporting adult learners in an asynchronous online environment, with occasional synchronous components.
What You'll Do
- Teach quantitative courses in Managerial Economics as assigned.
- Actively participate in weekly online discussions.
- Evaluate coursework and provide constructive feedback to students.
- Assist with the development and refinement of curriculum.
- Create short weekly videos to introduce new topics.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress.
- Ensure smooth course operation and adherence to policies.
- Conduct assigned office hours.
What We're Looking For
- Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- 7-10 years of executive or senior-level management and leadership experience.
- Mastery in presentation skills and course organization.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability to coach and instruct adult learners in an online environment.
- Ability to do occasional synchronous work with students.
- Commitment to student success.
- Flexibility to teach any quantitative course as needed.
- Ability to travel weekly to required location(s).
- Ability to lift 25 lbs.
- Ability to work more than 40 hours per week when business needs warrant.
- Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality.
- Effective communication skills up and down the management chain.
- Ability to effectively cope with stressful situations.
- Strong mental acuity.
- Authorization to work in the United States (Visa sponsorship not available).
Nice to Have
- Doctoral degree in Finance, Economics, or related field, or actively working towards one (ABD).
- Practical business industry experience relevant to quantitative courses.
- Experience with the Canvas learning management system.
- Graduate-level online teaching experience.
- Professional certification in discipline specialty (e.g., CPA, CMA).
- A deep understanding and appreciation for Jack Welch's management philosophy.
- Experience with the adoption of new technology and tools.
