What You'll Do
Conduct in-depth open-source investigations into conflict-related incidents using digital forensics, geolocation, chronolocation, and media verification techniques. Analyze patterns of behavior and activity to uncover evidence of war crimes and human rights violations. Transform complex data into accessible, factual narratives tailored for public audiences, media outlets, and advocacy initiatives.
Collaborate with editorial and media teams to shape stories that maximize clarity and engagement, integrating visual elements like maps, timelines, and data displays. Support the distribution of findings by engaging with journalists, policymakers, and civil society partners. Participate in interviews and public discussions to explain investigative results to non-technical audiences.
Deliver training and mentorship on OSINT methods to colleagues and partner organizations, promoting best practices in ethical and secure investigation. Maintain strict adherence to organizational standards for safety, data integrity, and responsible reporting.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience in conducting OSINT investigations with a focus on human rights or conflict zones
- Fluency in Russian and Ukrainian, both written and spoken
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to simplify technical findings for general audiences
- Portfolio of published work in journalism, reporting, or digital content creation for public consumption
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in investigative journalism, human rights advocacy, or justice and accountability programs
- Experience delivering training or workshops on OSINT tools and methodologies
