MyFlorida's Department of Management Services is hiring an OPS Food Support Worker for the Florida Department of Veterans' Affairs at the Ardie R. Copa’s State Veterans’ Nursing Home. This position supports day-to-day food service operations in an agency dedicated to serving U.S. veterans.
What You'll Do
- Comply with state and facility safety procedures for equipment operation and cleaning.
- Maintain clean and sanitary conditions in all kitchen food preparation and serving areas.
- Turn on and set temperatures for grills, stoves, deep fryers, and broilers.
- Operate and maintain equipment according to FDVA procedures.
- Estimate food requirements and prepare all types of hot and cold food items according to menus and recipes.
- Cut and de-bone ham, poultry, and fish.
- Slice meat based on menu needs and utilize leftover meat items.
- Place food items on serving lines and keep them well-stocked.
What We're Looking For
- Willingness and ability to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, including writing, speaking, reading, and understanding.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Successful completion of the employment screening process, including a national background investigation and drug test.
Nice to Have
- Experience with food service in a cafeteria-style setting.
Team & Environment
You will work under the supervision of the Food Service Director, with direct oversight from the Food Production and Services Supervisor. The nursing home boasts a loyal team of long-term employees and a fantastic work culture.

- Compensation: $15.00 hourly
