The Operations Quality Engineer ensures project deliverables meet quality, compliance, and performance standards. This role collaborates with a Quality team and interfaces with engineering, operations, service management, and project stakeholders to align with the Quality Management System, organizational policies, and industry best practices.
Responsibilities
- Understand the current Quality Management System and support updating, implementing, and maintaining it in line with ISO 9001 and contractual obligations.
- Create, update, and manage quality procedures, plans, and associated documentation.
- Schedule and carry out internal audits to verify compliance with established procedures, regulations, and standards.
- Examine project documentation and reports to verify quality before approval.
- Develop and maintain the Contract Quality Control Plan based on service milestones and project schedules.
- Oversee verification activities and final deliverables before customer acceptance.
- Log, monitor, and manage non-conformities to resolution, including corrective and improvement actions.
- Track quality performance against defined quality objectives.
- Review performance indicators, conduct trend analysis, and initiate corrective actions when needed.
- Establish and maintain a Supplier Quality Plan, including inspections and audits of suppliers and subcontractors.
- Evaluate supplier performance data to detect trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
- Lead lessons learned reviews and ensure findings are recorded, shared, and applied.
- Measure and analyze the cost of poor quality and related corrective actions.
- Lead root cause investigations and ensure effective, sustainable solutions are implemented to prevent recurrence.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Assurance, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience as a Quality Engineer or QA Specialist in complex technical projects.
- Experience working with UK public-sector clients, particularly in transport or infrastructure sectors.
- Hold recognized quality management certifications such as IRCA Internal Auditor ISO 9001 or ASQ Certified Quality Engineer.
- Possess foundational knowledge of service management frameworks like ITIL.
- Demonstrate strong understanding of international and UK quality management standards.
- Have a proven ability to lead or coordinate multidisciplinary teams.
- Show strong analytical and structured problem-solving capabilities.
