About the Role

AMSURG Corp. is looking for a Vice President of Operations to lead a Division within our organization. You will be responsible for building physician partnerships, setting the Division’s growth strategy, and managing the clinical, financial, and operational performance of an approximately $300M operational portfolio. Your mission will be to build a strong shared vision and ensure the supporting people and operational processes are in place to drive performance.

What You'll Do

  • Foster a people-centric, success-oriented, and accountable company culture.
  • Attract, recruit, retain, motivate, and lead the operations team.
  • Ensure healthy board governance throughout the Division.
  • Inform people development, professional growth, and management approach for the Division.
  • Manage Directors of Operations (DOOs) and provide strategic direction to drive operational excellence.
  • Work with the Senior Vice President to improve major regional partner relationships and center management.
  • Coach and guide DOOs and Center leaders in building successful relationships with providers.
  • Articulate corporate initiatives and develop enactment plans.
  • Oversee continuous improvement of Quality, Operational Efficiency, Cost Management, Risk Management, Regulatory Compliance, Teammate Engagement, Provider Engagement, and Growth.
  • Develop and execute the Division portfolio strategy.
  • Foster deep relationships with key health system joint ventures, physician partnerships, and physician practice management MSOs.
  • Develop business planning and growth strategy in partnership with senior leadership.
  • Support and foster best-in-class Patient-Centered-Care.
  • Identify new regional opportunities within communities and across payers.
  • Own relationships with physicians and their growth needs.
  • Provide strategic direction to maintain strong relationships with existing health system partnerships.
  • Support organic growth and strategic initiatives.
  • Identify and introduce appropriate new initiatives to expand volume and revenue.
  • Support acquisition due diligence for new center opportunities.
  • Represent the organization with key stakeholders.
  • Drive a strong clinician value proposition.
  • Sell and influence adoption of new strategic initiatives.
  • Provide advocacy updates to provider partners.
  • Serve as an active member of Partnership Boards of Directors.
  • Be accountable for Division portfolio financial performance.
  • Develop and maintain understanding of financial reporting and operations.
  • Assist with Managed Care messaging throughout the Division.
  • Review the Division's portfolio, develop budgets, and assist ops leads with center budgets.
  • Provide leadership and develop action plans in crisis situations.

  • Proven leadership experience with a track record of driving team success and achieving organizational objectives.
  • Demonstrated eagerness to identify and address opportunities or challenges without direct oversight.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work cooperatively with physicians, staff, and external customers.
  • Strong management skills to oversee complex projects and manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; comfortable presenting to senior management, boards, and physicians.
  • Proven track record of taking initiative and driving projects to completion with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to manage ambiguity and a highly matrixed organization.
  • Demonstrated growth mindset with a passion for continuous learning and self-improvement.
  • Proven ability to embrace challenges, learn from feedback, and adapt to evolving situations.
  • Willingness to travel up to 60% of the time, with an average commitment of 40-60%.
  • Bachelor’s degree and/or master’s degree in business, healthcare administration or relevant field, and/or equivalent work.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of healthcare operations management experience.
  • Extensive experience leading healthcare operations in a multi-state integrated healthcare delivery system with a minimum of $100M+ revenue and direct P&L experience.

Team & Environment

You will report to the Senior Vice President (SVP). You will manage Directors of Operations (DOOs) and provide strategic direction to support and drive performance across the region.
