About the Role

PG&E is looking for an Operations Data Analyst to extract and analyze data to support leadership, respond to ad hoc requests, and maintain operational tools and databases. You'll support dashboarding and reporting by providing actionable insights and developing metric databases for broader analytics teams.

What You'll Do

  • Manage complex data analysis projects from initial request to presenting results, ensuring completion within budget and on time.
  • Design data analysis processes, write clear data findings, and tailor communications to specific audiences.
  • Analyze data using statistical tools to develop ad hoc reports, statistics, trends, and profiles.
  • Manage complex data extracts and list pulls, ensuring data accuracy.
  • Extract and transfer data from databases to support operational analysis efforts.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards and reporting tools to provide timely, actionable insights to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Create complex automated data routines and processes for reporting and data delivery, ensuring accurate data manipulation and cleansing.
  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge of data processing and analysis techniques.
  • Develop and communicate clear, concise, and actionable data analyses for clients.
  • Provide recommendations to enhance databases with new data sources and improved processes.

What We're Looking For

  • BA/BS Degree in Marketing, Business, Computer Science, Engineering, a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 4 years of related work experience.

Nice to Have

  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or a similar technical role.
  • Advanced proficiency in Python, including common data/automation libraries like NumPy, pandas, boto3, psycopg2, SQLAlchemy, and arcpy.
  • Advanced SQL skills, including complex queries, performance optimization, and experience with relational databases like PostgreSQL, MySQL, and SQL Server.
  • Demonstrated experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines for data ingestion, cleansing, transformation, and delivery.
  • Experience designing and maintaining data models for Business Intelligence, analytics, and operational workflows.
  • Strong understanding of data quality, validation, monitoring, metadata, and data governance principles.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services (S3, Lambda, RDS, Glue), Snowflake, and Palantir Foundry is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead end-to-end analytics projects from requirements gathering to delivering impactful outcomes.
  • Experience performing root cause analysis, diagnosing data issues, and implementing optimizations.
  • Exceptional communication skills to clearly convey technical concepts and analytical outcomes to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to effectively prioritize work, meet deadlines, and work independently on multiple tasks.

Benefits & Compensation

  • Salary Range: Bay Area: $105,000-$169,000; California: $100,000-$161,000

Work Mode

This role operates on a hybrid schedule and is open to candidates based in numerous cities across California, including but not limited to Dublin, Alameda, San Francisco, Oakland, San Jose, Sacramento, Los Angeles, Fresno, and San Diego.
