Hugging Face is hiring an Open-Source Machine Learning Engineer to join our mission to democratize AI. In this computer vision-focused role, you will use your expertise to advance our open-source libraries, providing the machine learning ecosystem with its best CV tool stack. You will build simple, intuitive tools and foster one of the most active ML communities.
What You'll Do
- Work with open-source libraries like Transformers and Datasets to boost support for vision or multi-modal models and datasets.
- Provide the best computer-vision tool stack in the machine learning ecosystem.
- Build the best, simplest, and most intuitive computer-vision library in the industry.
- Foster one of the most active machine learning communities, helping users contribute to and use the tools you build.
- Interact with researchers, ML practitioners, and data scientists daily through GitHub, forums, or Slack.
What We're Looking For
- Deep expertise in computer vision: object detection, segmentation, generative models, or multimodal systems.
- Strong open-source presence: Significant contributions to CV libraries (e.g., OpenCV, Detectron2, MMDetection, or Hugging Face’s own transformers/diffusers), as a Core-Contributor or maintainer.
- Scalability mindset: Experience optimizing models for production, deploying at scale, or improving inference efficiency.
- Collaboration & mentorship: Enjoy working with cross-functional teams, reviewing PRs, and guiding junior contributors.
- Alignment with our mission: Belief in democratizing AI and a desire to empower millions of builders with state-of-the-art tools.
Nice to Have
- Passion about the new development of Transformers models in computer vision.
- Experience building, optimizing, and training such models in PyTorch and/or TensorFlow.
- Experience serving models in production.
