About the Role

The School of Nursing at UT Health San Antonio invites applications from doctoral-prepared nurses for an Open Rank Faculty (Assistant/Associate/Professor) and Program Director position. This role provides a unique opportunity to lead the Center for Simulation Innovation (CSI) while contributing to teaching in undergraduate and graduate nursing programs. The School of Nursing is recognized for its commitment to innovative teaching, quality research, and community service.

What You'll Do

  • Manage the Simulation Center facility and its day-to-day operations, including the simulation hospital and skills laboratory.
  • Lead and support the development of nursing and inter-professional education simulation across multiple university venues.
  • Oversee acquisition, support, and maintenance of simulators, clinical practice laboratories, and associated technology-based initiatives.
  • Oversee fiscal resources for simulation-related technology and learning resources.
  • Support faculty and students with hands-on assistance in using simulation and other technological learning resources.
  • Ensure simulation-based learning experiences meet the International Association for Clinical and Simulation Learning (INACSL) Healthcare Simulation Standards of Best Practice™.
  • Maintain software and hardware maintenance contracts and ensure compliance with copyright and software licensing agreements.
  • Manage property inventory and ensure all CSI liabilities are accounted for.
  • Prepare and/or contribute to reports, records, and funding proposals related to simulation and clinical skills laboratories.
  • Hire and train qualified simulation staff members.
  • Ensure faculty and staff are oriented to the use of available technology within the CSI.
  • Oversee overall simulation needs for the semester, including planning schedules and pre-scenario run-throughs.
  • Ensure the CSI maintains accreditation status and meets the standards of the academic programs.
  • Collaborate with Associate Deans to ensure simulation activities align with course learning objectives.
  • Provide operational and strategic planning and leadership to achieve teaching, funding, and research goals.

What We're Looking For

  • Doctoral degree in nursing.
  • Current Texas RN license.
  • Certification as a Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE).
  • Administrative and/or leadership experience for a minimum of two (2) years.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience in nursing.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of academic simulation experience and at least two (2) years of teaching experience.

Nice to Have

  • Prior experience managing a Center for Simulation Innovation.

Team & Environment

This position reports directly to the Associate Dean of Prelicensure Programs.

Work Mode

This is an onsite position located in San Antonio.
