Geeks on Site was looking for an On-Call IT Field Technician - New York-Newark-Jersey City- Hiring NOW

GeeksOnSite is looking for an On-Call IT Field Technician to provide on-site technical support to residential and small business customers in the New York-Newark-Jersey City metro area. This is an independent contractor role where you will be dispatched to customer sites to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair a wide range of tech issues.

What You'll Do

  • Diagnose and repair hardware and software issues on Windows and macOS systems.
  • Resolve boot errors, OS issues, and login problems.
  • Set up or troubleshoot Wi-Fi and wired internet connections.
  • Replace or upgrade hardware components like HDD, RAM, and cooling fans.
  • Configure or connect printers and scanners from brands like Canon, HP, and Brother.
  • Address common printer error codes, including ink absorber, paper feed, and connectivity issues.
  • Perform general maintenance on multifunction printers (MFPs).
  • Reinstall operating systems using bootable USBs or recovery media.
  • Install remote tools or shortcuts as requested by customers.
  • Communicate clearly with customers and provide basic post-service support.
  • Document all service visits accurately and escalate complex issues when needed.

What We're Looking For

  • 2+ years of field IT support experience, including computer and printer repair.
  • Familiarity with Canon, HP, and other common printer brands.
  • Knowledge of error code troubleshooting (e.g., Canon code 1700, boot issues, driver conflicts).
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting both Windows (10/11) and macOS.
  • Must have your own personal tools, including a bootable USB and screwdriver set.
  • A reliable vehicle and a valid driver's license.
  • A smartphone with camera and data plan for documentation and communication.
  • The ability to work independently and maintain a professional, customer-focused demeanor.

Team & Environment
