Energean is seeking an Offshore Chemist to provide critical chemical expertise and support on the Energean Power FPSO, located offshore Israel. In this role, you will ensure the safe and efficient operation of the facility through rigorous analysis and proactive chemical management.
What You'll Do
- Perform regular sampling, analysis, and testing of natural gas, produced water, and production fluids to determine composition and quality.
- Utilize analytical techniques, including gas chromatography, spectrometry, and titration, to identify and quantify chemical components.
- Interpret analytical data and provide accurate, timely reports to operational and management teams.
- Design and implement chemical treatment programs to control corrosion, scale formation, and hydrate inhibition.
- Conduct field trials to assess chemical treatment effectiveness and recommend adjustments.
- Collaborate with production engineers and operations personnel to optimize chemical usage, minimize costs, and maximize efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations by monitoring the handling, storage, disposal of hazardous chemicals, and overboard wastewater discharges.
- Develop procedures for safe chemical handling, including risk assessments, MSDS, and emergency response plans.
- Participate in incident investigations and provide technical support for chemical-related events.
- Calibrate and maintain analytical instruments and equipment to ensure high-quality control and assurance.
- Develop quality control procedures for chemical testing and analysis.
- Collaborate with third-party laboratories to validate and verify analytical methods and results.
- Document all laboratory procedures, analysis results, and maintenance activities.
- Prepare technical reports, summaries, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
- Stay updated with industry trends, advancements in analytical techniques, and regulatory changes.
What We're Looking For
- A Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Certification as a wastewater and sewage sampler by the Ministry of Health.
