About the Role

Highpoint Virtual Academy of Michigan (HVAM), a Stride K12 partner school, seeks a Middle School ELL Teacher. This full-time virtual position is responsible for administering the K-12 ELL program, delivering personalized instruction, and providing support to students and families. You will work independently, requiring occasional travel within Michigan.

What You'll Do

  • Provide rich and engaging synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences.
  • Commit to personalizing learning and differentiate instruction based on student mastery.
  • Augment course content using appropriate tools and maintain the grade book to ensure academic integrity.
  • Prepare students for high-stakes standardized tests and make placement/promotion decisions.
  • Establish positive rapport with families, communicating regularly and responding in a timely manner.
  • Support learning coaches with curricular, instructional, and basic technical troubleshooting.
  • Travel as required, approximately once per month or 20% of the time, for testing and professional development.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Active Michigan Teaching Certification with ELL Endorsement.
  • Ability to clear a required background check.
  • Ability to work collaboratively to interpret student data and use it to drive instruction.
  • Receptiveness to regular coaching from administrators and teacher trainers.
  • Ability to embrace change and adapt to ensure excellent student outcomes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to rapidly learn new technologies and teaching platforms.
  • Ability to maintain certification and fluency in K12 systems, programs, and curriculum.
  • Must reside in Michigan.
  • Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week.
  • Ability to maintain a professional, distraction-free home office during the workday.

Nice to Have

  • Experience working with the proposed age group.
  • Experience supporting adults and children in the use of technology.
  • Experience teaching in online (virtual) and/or brick-and-mortar environments.
  • Experience with online learning platforms.

Benefits & Compensation

  • Base salary around $47,000 plus eligibility for a performance bonus.

Work Mode

This is a virtual teaching position. You must reside in Michigan and be able to work from a professional home office.
