Intersect is hiring a Microgrid Validation Engineer

Responsibilities

  • Construct simulation setups, validation software, and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing systems to assess system stability, controller effectiveness, and operational preparedness in realistic scenarios.
  • Build software tools and simulation platforms that test control logic under full operational ranges, including failures, communication lags, and hardware malfunctions.
  • Design and manage automated testing workflows to enhance efficiency, consistency, and reporting in validation processes.
  • Develop scalable validation methods to support expanding microgrid deployments.
  • Collaborate with control, power systems, and utility teams to define test scenarios, cases, and performance benchmarks.
  • Validate controller responses during standard operations and unexpected system events.
  • Define measurable performance indicators and acceptance standards to determine system readiness.
  • Use field data to refine simulation accuracy and uncover rare or untested conditions.
  • Integrate real-world insights into regression testing to expand validation coverage over time.
  • Assist in diagnosing root causes and validating fixes for performance issues in deployed systems.
  • Enhance and manage lab-based validation infrastructure, including HIL systems and test hardware.
  • Diagnose and resolve problems with test equipment, simulation tools, and validation procedures.
  • Maintain well-organized records of test assets, results, requirement traceability, and technical documentation.
