Royal London is looking for a Medical Underwriter to ensure customers consistently receive accurate and fair underwriting decisions. In this role, you’ll be responsible for setting up policies correctly at the start of a customer’s journey, providing a market leading service.
What You'll Do
- Manage and own a case pipeline from application to offer, making accurate decisions while balancing cost and risk to improve customer outcomes and experience.
- Support the Group Customer Service strategy by ensuring robust and accurate medical underwriting decisions that are appropriate to the commercial risk and within your personal authority.
- Deliver effective customer service within the consumer duty framework.
- Act as a technical point of reference, providing medical underwriting guidance both internally and externally.
What We're Looking For
- A proven track record of medical underwriting skills covering critical illness, Death, and Income Protection within the UK market.
- Sound knowledge and experience of the Protection Market.
- Ability to research, analyse and interpret complex information.
- Sound understanding of medical terminology and the ability to interpret medical information.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Highly analytical mindset with strong attention to detail.
- Customer focused, compassionate approach.
- Openness to a continued culture of learning and change.
- Confidence in your decision-making abilities.
- A collaborative approach to share knowledge and best practice with peers.
