About the Role

Jennie Stuart Health is seeking a Medical Technologist/Clinical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team. In this role, you will perform examinations of materials or specimens taken from the human body to provide vital information for diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of disease. You'll be responsible for all preanalytical, analytic, and post analytic phases of testing, complying with the direction of the Section Supervisor and providing care appropriate to patients of all ages.

What You'll Do

  • Perform laboratory testing per protocols and procedures in a timely manner.
  • Maintain standards in STAT, Timed, ASAP, and Routine testing.
  • Document quality control procedures and preventative maintenance performed.
  • Investigate abnormal results and correlate test results with diagnosis.
  • Call critical results to caregivers within established timeframes.
  • Complete work assigned during shift with minimal carryover.
  • Assist in orientation of new staff members and training of students.
  • Perform proficiency testing as assigned.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment, practicing safety with PPE.
  • When assigned as charge tech: be the first point of contact for lab issues, oversee work in all sections, solve workflow issues, and manage occurrence documentation.
  • When assigned as float: cover breaks and meals, replenish supplies, put away stock, assist with clerical items, and resolve automated line errors.

What We're Looking For

  • Certification as a Medical Technologist, Clinical Laboratory Scientist, or Medical Laboratory Technician from a national accrediting agency (ASCP, AAB, etc.).
  • One of the following educational and experiential pathways:
    • High school graduate or equivalent with high-complexity testing experience prior to April 25, 1995.
    • Bachelor’s Degree and a certificate from a NAACLS-accredited medical laboratory training program.
    • Associate’s Degree or 60 semester hours in a physical, chemical, or biological science/medical laboratory technology, plus required agency experience.
    • Bachelor’s Degree in a natural science, plus required agency experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent customer relation skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and concentration.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.

Nice to Have

  • Minimum of one year as a generalist preferred.

Team & Environment

You will report to the Director of Laboratory Services, Laboratory Manager, and Medical Director.

Work Mode

This is an onsite position.
