Oak Street Health is hiring a Medical Scribe (Clinical Informatics Specialist) to support our primary care providers by managing clinical documentation. This allows providers to focus on delivering exceptional, patient-centered care. You will be a key partner in the patient care journey, from morning huddles to documenting in the exam room and assisting with follow-up steps.

What You'll Do

Document patient encounters in a structured note, including history of present illness, assessment, plan, and physical exam.
Assign appropriate CPT and ICD-10 codes.
Prepare After Visit Summaries.
Consult with the provider to ensure accurate and specific documentation.
Request and review medical records.
Leverage population health tools to support clinical documentation improvement.
Prepare for and support Daily Huddles and Clinical Documentation Reviews.
Consult with the provider on clinical documentation opportunities.
Place orders and referrals.
Address clinical tasks.
Support the care team with additional responsibilities related to clinical documentation.

What We're Looking For

Knowledge of medical terminology and common medications, either from a pre-medical degree or prior clinical experience.
Advanced listening and communication skills.
Strong computer literacy and ability to learn new technical workflows.
Fluency in Spanish, Polish, Russian, or other languages spoken by people in the communities we serve (required where indicated).
Ability to adapt to new workflows and to quickly learn new concepts and skills.
Ability and willingness to take direction and be a member of a team providing patient care, including adapting to the provider's working style.
Excellent job attendance including ability to work in-person in our clinics.
Ability to commit to at least 1 year in the role.
Ability to work approximately 40-45 hours per week during clinic hours (full-time position) with predictable hours and break times.
Compliance with hospital and Oak Street Health policies, including HIPAA.
US work authorization.

Nice to Have

Prior clinical experience, including shadowing and/or volunteering.
Prior scribe or transcription experience.
Ability to type 70+ words per minute.

Team & Environment

Scribes are paired with a provider and serve as clinical documentation assistants.
