8350 Oak Street Health MSO LLC is looking for a Medical Scribe, internally known as a Clinic Informatics Specialist (CIS). This role exists to support our primary care providers by handling clinical documentation, allowing them to concentrate on delivering exceptional patient care. A scribe assists throughout the patient journey—from pre-visit planning to exam room documentation and post-visit follow-up.
What You'll Do
- Document patient encounters in a structured note, including history, assessment, plan, and physical exam, constituting ~80% of the role.
- Assign accurate CPT and ICD-10 codes.
- Prepare After Visit Summaries.
- Consult with providers to ensure documentation is accurate and specific.
- Request and review medical records (~10% of role).
- Use population health tools to support clinical documentation improvement.
- Prepare for and support Daily Huddles and Clinical Documentation Reviews.
- Consult with providers on documentation opportunities.
- Place orders and referrals (~10% of role).
- Address clinical tasks.
- Support the care team with additional documentation-related responsibilities.
What We're Looking For
- Knowledge of medical terminology and common medications from a pre-medical degree or prior clinical experience.
- Advanced listening and communication skills.
- Strong computer literacy and ability to learn new technical workflows.
- Fluency in Spanish, Polish, Russian, or other community languages where required.
- Ability to adapt to new workflows and learn new concepts quickly.
- Willingness to take direction and be a collaborative team member, adapting to a provider's working style.
- Excellent job attendance and ability to work in-person at our clinics.
- Commitment to at least 1 year in the role.
- Ability to work 40-45 hours per week during clinic hours with predictable scheduling.
- Compliance with all hospital and Oak Street Health policies, including HIPAA.
- US work authorization.
Nice to Have
- Prior clinical experience, including shadowing or volunteering.
- Prior scribe or medical transcription experience.
- Ability to type 70+ words per minute.
