Ascendis Pharma is looking for a Medical Science Liaison to be the external-facing scientific expert in Medical Affairs for the Houston, Texas area. Guided by our core values of Patients, Science, and Passion, you will communicate about our products using deep clinical and scientific expertise. This role focuses on building relationships and educating the endocrinology community about our pipeline and TransCon technology.
What You'll Do
- Serve as the field-based external medical representation of Medical Affairs.
- Create awareness of Ascendis Pharma and communicate the potential of TransCon technology in the endocrinology community.
- Maintain a high level of medical expertise to support the portfolio/pipeline and relevant disease states like bone and growth.
- Provide medical and scientific presentations to both internal and external audiences.
- Identify key opinion leaders (KOLs) and key organizations for disease states within your geography.
- Identify the scientific needs of healthcare providers, researchers, and patient advocates.
- Develop and maintain a KOL engagement plan that fosters collaborative relationships.
- Capture external insights about the disease state, Ascendis portfolio, and competitors.
- Build strong relationships with internal colleagues by providing medical expertise and support.
- Collaborate with Medical Outcomes Scientific Liaisons (MOSLs) to support regional deliverables.
- Participate in the development and implementation of Field Medical Team strategic goals.
- Provide scientific support at medical congresses.
- Provide internal onboarding and ongoing medical training for commercial and medical colleagues.
- Engage with external researchers as a primary contact for investigator-initiated trials (IITs).
- Support clinical trial operations by identifying and engaging clinical trial investigators and sites.
- Document all relevant activities in the CRM platform.
- Ensure compliance with department and corporate policies and procedures.
What We're Looking For
- MD, PhD, PharmD, or equivalent advanced degree.
- Minimum of 5+ years of pharmaceutical experience as a medical science liaison.
- Must be outgoing and appreciate interacting with healthcare providers and researchers.
- Must have an incredible passion for patients.
- Strong oral and written communication skills with a high capability to understand and effectively communicate scientific and clinical information.
- Ability to collaborate with a wide range of people to achieve results.
- Ability to work autonomously to organize and prioritize one’s own work schedule.
- Ability to make decisions which have a significant impact on the department’s credibility, operations, and services.
- Ability to create materials such as reports and presentations and to present to both internal and external groups.
- Must live near a major airport hub within the geography.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license in the state of residence and maintain a satisfactory driving record.
Nice to Have
- Pediatric endocrinology, endocrinology, or rare disease experience.

- Compensation range: $175,000-$190,000 per year, depending on experience.
