Mass General Brigham is looking for a full-time Medical Assistant to support a dedicated provider within our cardiology practice. You will be a crucial part of a healthcare team, delivering both clinical and non-clinical patient services under the direction of a provider.
What You'll Do
- Assist junior Medical Assistants with their daily responsibilities and participate in onboarding training to support their learning.
- Guide patients to examination rooms, prepare equipment, and obtain medical information including vital signs, weight, and height, recording all details in the patient's medical record.
- Explain treatment plans, medications, diets, and physician instructions to patients, ordering and organizing educational materials to reinforce patient education.
- Perform general office duties, act as a liaison with other departments, and advocate for patients with a positive customer service approach.
- Collect, log, and prepare laboratory specimens, including performing phlebotomy if competence is demonstrated.
- Manage inventory of immunizations and check expiration dates.
- Provide immunizations as applicable, which requires certification or 3 years of experience administering vaccines under provider supervision.
- Support departmental quality initiatives such as two patient identifiers and hand hygiene protocols.
What We're Looking For
- High School Diploma or Equivalent is required; experience cannot be substituted.
- 1-2 years of direct Medical Assistant experience or work in a medical field.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks in complex and busy clinical environments.
- High accuracy and attention to detail.
- Compliance with all local, state, and federal privacy and confidentiality regulations.
- Proficiency in taking vital signs and manual blood pressure, and collecting blood and other specimens.
- Comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and protocols.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and medical office software.
- Ability to use logic and reasoning to evaluate problems and identify solutions.
- Strong time management skills for yourself and others.
Nice to Have
- Associate's Degree in Medical Assisting.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
- Certified Medical Assistant with national certification.
- Completion of a Medical Assistant course or diploma program, or a minimum of 1 year of professional experience (Strongly Preferred).
- National MA Certification via AAMA, AMT, NHA, or NCCT (Strongly Preferred).
- Epic EHR experience (Strongly Preferred).

Work Mode
This is an onsite role. Primary location is 331 Highland Avenue, Salem, MA. Secondary locations include 81 Highland Avenue (as needed) and 1069 Broadway, Saugus, MA (on Tuesdays).
