Fehr Graham (a Trilon Group company) is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and implementation of complex mechanical systems for public, municipal, and institutional facilities. In this high-impact leadership role, you will drive projects from concept through construction, serve as a primary technical contact for clients, and guide junior engineers.
What You'll Do
- Conduct feasibility studies to evaluate project requirements, technical constraints, and cost implications.
- Lead the design of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems, including system sizing, load calculations, and equipment selection.
- Prepare drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
- Manage multiple projects at various stages of completion.
- Coordinate closely with architects, civil engineers, and electrical engineers.
- Serve as a key technical contact for clients and project partners.
- Review shop drawings, equipment submittals, and contractor documentation.
- Conduct site visits and inspections to evaluate system conditions.
- Support commissioning, troubleshooting, and final system performance.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior mechanical engineers.
- Support quality control and knowledge sharing across the team.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience.
- Strong experience designing HVAC systems.
- Experience with plumbing and fire protection systems.
- Experience working on municipal, institutional, or infrastructure projects.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and coordinate effectively with clients and contractors.
Nice to Have
- Professional Engineer (PE) license (NJ preferred).
- Experience with AutoCAD or Revit.
- Knowledge of ASHRAE and NFPA codes.
- Experience with facility upgrades, school renovations, or treatment facilities.
