This role focuses on the development of mechanical design solutions for nuclear power applications, working under the guidance of senior project leads. You'll contribute to the creation of 3D models and detailed physical layouts, ensuring accuracy and integration across complex systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce mechanical design drawings and 3D models for general arrangements, piping systems, supports, and equipment placement
- Collaborate with engineers and designers across disciplines to coordinate system integration
- Lead mechanical design efforts during detailed design phases, providing direction to team members
- Use 3D modeling tools to develop and refine plant layout schematics
- Review mechanical equipment specifications and interface requirements
- Conduct site visits when needed to gather field data and validate designs
- Mentor junior drafters and support team development
Qualifications
Candidates should have an Associate's degree in drafting, or a high school diploma with at least one year of drafting coursework, or equivalent technical experience. A minimum of five years of experience in detailed mechanical design for piping systems, supports, and general arrangements is required.
Proficiency with 3D design software is essential. Experience with MicroStation is preferred. The ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams and communicate clearly with engineering staff is critical.
Work Environment
This position follows a hybrid model, combining office and remote work. Occasional field walkdowns at client sites may be required.
