About the Role
The manufacturing engineer will work to develop, refine, and maintain production systems, ensuring seamless integration of new products and technologies while driving improvements in quality, safety, and efficiency across manufacturing operations.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement manufacturing processes to support production goals
- Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate new technologies into existing systems
- Analyze current production methods to identify opportunities for improvement
- Develop process documentation and work instructions for manufacturing operations
- Support the launch of new products on the production line
- Troubleshoot equipment and process issues during manufacturing
- Ensure manufacturing systems meet quality, safety, and environmental standards
- Work with suppliers to evaluate tooling and production equipment
- Use data analysis to monitor and improve process performance
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives using lean manufacturing principles
- Coordinate with maintenance teams to minimize production downtime
- Assist in facility layout planning and optimization
- Evaluate manufacturing feasibility during product design phases
- Train production personnel on new processes and equipment
- Monitor key performance indicators for production efficiency
- Support cost reduction efforts through process optimization
- Implement standardized work practices across production areas
- Participate in safety audits and risk assessments
- Develop and maintain process flow diagrams and work plans
- Utilize engineering software for process simulation and modeling
- Ensure compliance with internal and external manufacturing regulations
- Manage engineering change requests for production systems
- Conduct time studies and capacity analysis for production lines
- Support automation projects to enhance manufacturing capabilities
- Collaborate with quality teams to resolve production defects
Nice to Have
- Master's degree in engineering or related discipline
- Professional engineering certification
- Experience with automation and robotics in manufacturing
- Background in automotive production systems
- Knowledge of Industry 4.0 technologies
- Experience with digital twin or simulation software
- Familiarity with SAP or similar enterprise systems
- Project leadership in capital equipment installations
- Six Sigma Green Belt or higher certification
- Experience in a unionized manufacturing environment
