Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor and coach a team of six Data Engineering professionals, fostering a collaborative environment.
- Ensure team has measurable SMART goals (OKRs) and understands how these goals impact our company goals and strategies; hold yourself and team accountable for performance against these goals.
- Own workload management for the Data Engineering team, including intake, prioritization, resource allocation, and metrics.
- Own successful outcome and positive impact for critical large scale data engineering projects including project management, resource management and communication.
- Mitigate risks and clear blockers.
- Collaborate cross functionally to drive initiatives.
- Own team performance against established SLAs, including visibility into SLA adherence over time.
- Establish and provide visibility for metrics that will identify bottlenecks or other improvement opportunities.
- Own proactive communication of the team’s goals and accomplishments.
- Work closely with technical data engineering leads to establish a data engineering roadmap.
- Drive stakeholder alignment on roadmap and prioritization.
- Identify dependencies for successful completion of roadmap, coordinate with stakeholders to ensure dependencies are reflected on appropriate roadmaps.
- Tie company objectives back to team roadmap.

- Data Architecture Experience: You are comfortable with data architecture and patterns for both structured and unstructured data.
- Communication: You have excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. You excel at cross functional coordination and are able to build consensus. You would describe yourself as a good listener and are enthusiastic to learn from others.
- Value Creation: You understand business needs, users, technology, and data, and collaborate with stakeholders to design and deliver data solutions that provide business value.
- Problem-Solving: You demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to identifying issues and implementing effective solutions.
- 5+ years experience as a Data Engineer.
- 3+ years experience as a people manager.
- Proficiency at successfully managing large scale data engineering projects.
- Hands on experience building data pipelines within a structured deployment environment.
- Experience with Agile project management.
- Experience with cloud platforms like AWS or Azure.
- Understanding of data modeling principles.
- Experience working with time series data.
- Experience with Databricks.
- Experience with RDS.
- Understanding of challenges and best practices working with IoT data.
- Experience directly working with IoT Data Pipelines.
- Experience creating a medallion structure data warehouse.
- Knowledge of Data Governance and Security.
- Experience with Salesforce.
- Comfortable with object oriented programming languages such as Python.
- Comfortable with SQL.
Nice to Have
