About the Role
The Legal Virtual Assistant will provide comprehensive remote support for legal professionals by managing documentation, organizing case files, and assisting with scheduling and client communication. This role demands strong attention to detail, excellent organizational abilities, and a solid understanding of legal procedures and terminology.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and proofread legal documents, including contracts, pleadings, and correspondence
- Manage and maintain digital case files and databases
- Schedule depositions, court dates, and client meetings
- Communicate with clients to gather information and provide updates
- Conduct legal research using online databases and resources
- Assist with filing documents in state and federal courts
- Track deadlines and ensure compliance with court rules
- Organize and label exhibits for trials and hearings
- Support attorneys during trial preparation
- Maintain client confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards
- Coordinate with external parties such as courts and opposing counsel
- Generate reports on case status and workflow
- Monitor and renew legal subscriptions and licenses
- Assist in drafting discovery requests and responses
- Manage attorney calendars and prioritize appointments
- Transcribe recorded legal interviews and meetings
- Organize and archive completed case materials
- Track billable hours and assist with invoicing
- Respond to routine legal inquiries via email or phone
- Verify citations and legal references in documents
Nice to Have
- Paralegal certification from an accredited program
- Experience in litigation support or law firm administration
- Knowledge of specific practice areas such as family law or personal injury
- Familiarity with Westlaw or LexisNexis
- Experience preparing trial binders and exhibits
- Background in document review for discovery
- Previous remote legal work experience
