About the Role

The Raspberry Pi Foundation is seeking a Learning Manager as an Independent Contractor in South Africa. This role focuses on adapting and delivering the Foundation's computing education resources to support South Africa's Coding and Robotics Curriculum, ensuring they meet local needs and evidence-based pedagogical standards.

What You'll Do

  • Collaborate with UK and Kenya based teams to design curriculum sequences for multiple grades in South Africa.
  • Adapt existing lesson materials (slides, worksheets, lesson plans) to suit the needs of learners in South Africa.
  • Design and deliver training and lead the delivery of the Approved Trainer initiative in South Africa, quality assuring a network of community trainers.
  • Establish and build relationships with curriculum officials working on the Coding & Robotics curriculum and the wider ecosystem such as NGOs.
  • Develop and deliver learning experiences, content, resources, and training for the Foundation's educational programmes and products.
  • Ensure learning experiences, content, resources, and training reflect evidence-based pedagogy and the Foundation's agreed approaches to teaching and learning.
  • Contribute to the development of the Foundation's teaching and learning approaches, engaging with research and best practice.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation and external partners.
  • Engage positively with the Foundation's systems for quality assurance, including policies for inclusion and accessibility.
  • Proactively utilise user feedback and data to drive improvement.
  • Represent the Raspberry Pi Foundation to external audiences and stakeholders as required.
  • Contribute to the Foundation's thought leadership through writing articles and blogs, public speaking, and contributing to research and evaluation.

What We're Looking For

  • You must be eligible to work in South Africa.
  • A thorough understanding of computing, with a suitable qualification in computer science or a related subject.
  • A teaching qualification, or significant experience of teaching computing or a related subject.
  • Experience designing synchronous and/or asynchronous training experiences for adult educators.
  • Experience of delivering high quality learning experiences, content, resources, or training in South African schools.
  • Comfortable with a broad range of technologies, including hardware and software platforms, and the ability and willingness to learn new technologies as required.
  • An understanding of computing pedagogy within formal education and non-formal learning.
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and a collaborative approach to working with colleagues and external partners.
  • Willingness to travel within South Africa and to the UK and Kenya if required.
  • A commitment to the Foundation's mission and values, including on diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Team & Environment

You will collaborate closely with teams based in the UK and Kenya, with a flexible and collaborative approach to all aspects of our work.

Benefits & Compensation

  • Compensation range of 441,000 - 513,000 ZAR per annum full-time equivalent, dependent on experience.

Work Mode

This is a local-country position based in South Africa, working remotely. Priority will be given to candidates located in the Eastern Cape.
