Role Overview
This position leads upstream process development for biosimilar products within a global team setting, based at the Ljubljana development center. The role combines hands-on scientific leadership with the creation of advanced computational capabilities, particularly in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), to enhance process design and decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead upstream process development activities for biosimilars within cross-functional project teams.
- Build and manage an internal CFD capability, including selection of software tools, definition of workflows, and establishment of technical standards.
- Optimize bioprocess parameters such as media and feed strategies, scale-up approaches, and process robustness using experimental and modelling techniques.
- Develop and apply mechanistic or data-driven models in collaboration with data scientists and technical experts to deepen process understanding.
- Support long-term scientific strategy by evaluating emerging technologies, digital platforms, and advanced modelling methods relevant to bioprocess development.
Qualifications
Candidates should hold a master’s degree in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, physics, biotechnology, or a related field. A minimum of six years of relevant experience is required, or three years post-PhD in bioprocess development or computational modelling. Proven experience in CFD simulations, bioreactor operations, process scale-up, and Design of Experiments (DoE) is essential. Strong communication, teamwork, and project management abilities are expected.

Compensation & Benefits
- Annual gross salary range: €50,720 – €76,080
- Annual bonus (STI) based on a percentage of salary
