Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors is hiring a Lead UX/UI Designer to own the design of a sophisticated, data-heavy B2B platform. You will translate intricate geospatial and 3D datasets into intuitive, visual-first user interfaces by applying principles from interactive and game design.

What You'll Do

  • Lead end-to-end UX/UI design for a complex, web-based 3D platform, from concept research to high-fidelity prototypes.
  • Transform large, intricate datasets into immersive, interactive visualizations that simplify user interaction.
  • Conduct user research with B2B clients in civil engineering and geospatial domains to drive design decisions.
  • Develop a visual-first design system, including dashboards, modular UI components, and interactive maps.
  • Apply gaming and interactive design principles to create engaging, responsive experiences.
  • Collaborate closely with product, engineering, and data science teams to ensure design integrates seamlessly with platform functionality.
  • Present design concepts to stakeholders, advocating for user-centered and visually clear solutions.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation in workflow, data visualization, and interactive design.

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience designing data-heavy, web-based platforms with a focus on visual interaction and engagement.
  • B2B design experience, ideally in civil engineering, geospatial, or other technical domains.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating UX/UI leadership and visually compelling design solutions.
  • Expertise with design and prototyping tools like Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD.
  • Understanding of front-end technologies including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Experience designing interactive data visualizations with libraries such as D3.js, Mapbox, or CesiumJS.
  • Excellent client-facing communication skills to present and justify design decisions.
  • An analytical mindset and strong user empathy to translate complex requirements into intuitive designs.

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with game design principles or interactive systems.
  • Experience with mapping libraries and APIs like Mapbox, Leaflet, or CesiumJS.
  • Familiarity with geospatial or civil engineering platforms such as GISonLINE or ProjectWise.
  • Background in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Game Design, or Visual Communication.
  • Experience designing for platforms handling large-scale data transfer and processing.

Technical Stack

  • Design: Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD
  • Front-End: HTML, CSS, JavaScript
