Shell Recharge Solutions is hiring a Lead Software Test Engineer I to provide technical leadership and ensure the quality of our electric vehicle charging software. You will oversee a team of engineers, manage QA activities across projects, and champion process improvements within a dynamic, sustainability-focused environment.
What You'll Do
- Mentor engineers and senior engineers through weekly one-on-one sessions.
- Track QA sign-offs for all testing cycles and manage release schedules with QA managers.
- Delegate and distribute tasks, including test case writing and reviews.
- Review manual and automated test cases and conduct retrospective meetings.
- Run daily stand-ups with QA teams and standardize processes with other leads.
- Collaborate directly with performance engineers on environment health.
- Maintain QA documents, templates, and job aids.
- Assess capacity, allocate resources, and review task estimations for all releases.
- Create dashboards, optimization plans, and provide detailed weekly project status reports.
- Interview new hires for the QA department and create knowledge transition plans.
What We're Looking For
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Engineering or 5+ years of equivalent engineering experience.
- 7+ years of overall QA experience, with at least 3 years as a Senior QA Engineer individual contributor.
- 3+ years of current experience leading projects and teams.
- 3+ years writing automated tests.
- 2+ years interacting with development, program management, and DevOps/SRE teams during feature launches.
- 5+ years of experience working with AWS, Linux, networked systems, and databases.
- High engagement and positive working relationships with your manager, peers, and stakeholders.
- Mastery of implementing Agile processes and proactive meeting scheduling.
- A confident communicator and strong knowledge of automation tools.
- Excellent track record of clear, valuable test additions and documentation.
Nice to Have
- Experience with white/gray/black box and comprehensive test planning for complex systems.
- Hands-on expertise with Selenium, Playwright, Cucumber, ReadyAPI, Postman, Robot Framework, or similar.
- Experience writing, executing, and monitoring test suites and tracking multiple executions.
- Comfort reading and writing code, with 5+ years of Java/Core Java programming.
- Ability to drive UI automation, API testing, and performance testing with tools like JMeter.
- Knowledge of continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) practices.
- Experience applying AI/GenAI tools (e.g., Copilot) to accelerate automation.
- Very good understanding of tools like Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Eclipse/IntelliJ IDEA, TestNG, SQL, Jira.
- Excellent problem-solving, collaboration, and leadership skills.
