About the Role

Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors is hiring a Lead Software Engineer for a high-impact, remote role within the US. You will help shape a large-scale API and data platform that powers integrations with major financial institutions and enables access for 160 million users. This position involves guiding architecture decisions, leading development efforts, and influencing the platform’s evolution within a cloud-native AWS environment.

What You'll Do

  • Architect and build scalable APIs and data ingestion pipelines in a cloud-native environment using AWS technologies.
  • Drive complex engineering projects in close collaboration with product managers, technical leads, and sales teams.
  • Translate product and business requirements into technical solutions and actionable engineering roadmaps.
  • Oversee the full lifecycle of production deployments, following CI/CD best practices.
  • Lead experimentation and technical improvements, contributing to long-term architectural decisions and platform innovation.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior and mid-level engineers, fostering technical growth and best practices.
  • Support a reliable and secure integration platform that connects with some of the world’s largest financial institutions.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 8+ years of software development experience, with demonstrated leadership in technical projects.
  • Proficiency with modern programming languages such as TypeScript, Python, or Java.
  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS services (Lambda, SQS, RDS, DynamoDB, Kafka, MSK, EMR, EKS).
  • Solid background in building and maintaining distributed systems, microservices, and big data applications (e.g., Spark).
  • Experience with SQL/NoSQL databases and scalable data platforms.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, modern development tools, and testing/documentation practices.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills across teams and disciplines.
  • Experience mentoring and leading engineering teams.

Nice to Have

  • Background in ad tech.
  • Hands-on C#/.NET experience.
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform.
