Astera Labs is hiring a Lead Firmware QA Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and executing functional, performance, interoperability, and stress tests for our PCIe switch products. You will work closely with silicon, architecture, and firmware development teams to understand the design and develop comprehensive test strategies.
What You'll Do
- Estimate work, identify dependencies, and develop project schedules.
- Design and execute functional, performance, interoperability, and stress tests.
- Work closely with Silicon, architecture, and firmware development teams to understand design and develop test strategies.
- Drive both manual and automation testing efforts.
- Perform signal integrity and protocol-level validation.
- Collaborate with development teams to triage and debug issues.
- Regularly work with hyperscale and Tier 1 OEMs to communicate plans, address escalations, and deliver on SLAs.
- Manage requirements and traceability through software development phases.
- Mentor and coach team members to help them excel in their roles.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
- Detail-oriented PCIe switch test engineer with a solid understanding of the PCIe protocol.
- Strong knowledge of scripting (Python) is required.
- Experience collecting PCIe trace using a PCIe analyzer and analyzing the trace to triage issues.
- Hands-on experience with PRBS testing, loopback, and margining tests.
- Good understanding of OOB testing and protocols like MCTP, I2C, and SPDM.
- Power user of Git, Jira, and Confluence.
Nice to Have
- Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering.
- Experience in PCIe compliance testing.
- Knowledge in the validation of NIC controllers and storage controllers.
