Leidos, a trusted industry leader in power solutions, is hiring a Lead Distribution Engineer. In this role, you will be responsible for electric utility design engineering, leading the development of electrical distribution work packages, and ensuring high-quality project delivery while working directly with clients.
What You'll Do
- Lead the development of electrical distribution work packages.
- Perform engineering design and analysis; potentially work on programmatic, capital, or reliability design.
- Be responsible for QAQC tasks on your assigned team and play a role in quality reviews of team designs.
- Review engineering design packages with clients and organize existing program work.
- Perform scope analysis of work assigned and maintain schedule adherence to advocate client priorities.
- Interact directly with clients on a frequent, as-needed basis.
- Provide engineering support during construction, including post-construction reviews.
- Coordinate conflicting utilities and other field engineering design requirements; assist with work permit development, easements, and ROW applications.
- Be comfortable in both a field and office setting; the role could require customer-site visits to collect field data.

What We're Looking For
- 4+ years of relevant experience working electric distribution projects in a consulting environment for electric utilities or working directly at an electric utility.
- Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial) from an ABET accredited institution; additional relevant experience can be considered in lieu of degree.
- Experience and demonstrated proficiency with the National Electric Safety Code (NESC).
- Experience with engineering design quality control.
- Familiarity with Pole Loading software (O-Calc, Pole Foreman, etc) and distribution pole analysis.
- Ability to utilize a personal vehicle, as some customer-related travel could be anticipated.
- Willingness to perform both field and office work; ability to work in outdoor environments on occasion.
- Candidates should possess a valid U.S. driver's license.
Nice to Have
- EIT Certification.
- Previous QAQC experience.
- Experience providing estimated costs, development of a BOM, and calculating the CIAC.
- Demonstrated history of customer interaction.
- Proven experience and proficiency with STORMS software and GIS.
- Prior leadership experience.
