About the Role

Leidos, a trusted industry leader in power solutions, is hiring a Lead Distribution Engineer. In this role, you will be responsible for electric utility design engineering, leading the development of electrical distribution work packages, and ensuring high-quality project delivery while working directly with clients.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the development of electrical distribution work packages.
  • Perform engineering design and analysis; potentially work on programmatic, capital, or reliability design.
  • Be responsible for QAQC tasks on your assigned team and play a role in quality reviews of team designs.
  • Review engineering design packages with clients and organize existing program work.
  • Perform scope analysis of work assigned and maintain schedule adherence to advocate client priorities.
  • Interact directly with clients on a frequent, as-needed basis.
  • Provide engineering support during construction, including post-construction reviews.
  • Coordinate conflicting utilities and other field engineering design requirements; assist with work permit development, easements, and ROW applications.
  • Be comfortable in both a field and office setting; the role could require customer-site visits to collect field data.
  • In the future, play a role in the hiring process for the future of your team.

What We're Looking For

  • 4+ years of relevant experience working electric distribution projects in a consulting environment for electric utilities or working directly at an electric utility.
  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial) from an ABET accredited institution; additional relevant experience can be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Experience and demonstrated proficiency with the National Electric Safety Code (NESC).
  • Experience with engineering design quality control.
  • Familiarity with Pole Loading software (O-Calc, Pole Foreman, etc) and distribution pole analysis.
  • Ability to utilize a personal vehicle, as some customer-related travel could be anticipated.
  • Willingness to perform both field and office work; ability to work in outdoor environments on occasion.
  • Candidates should possess a valid U.S. driver's license.

Nice to Have

  • EIT Certification.
  • Previous QAQC experience.
  • Experience providing estimated costs, development of a BOM, and calculating the CIAC.
  • Demonstrated history of customer interaction.
  • Proven experience and proficiency with STORMS software and GIS.
  • Prior leadership experience.
