About the Role
This position involves providing targeted academic support to K-12 students in English language arts through virtual sessions. Tutors will focus on strengthening core skills such as reading comprehension, writing proficiency, and critical thinking, using individualized approaches to meet student goals.
Responsibilities
- Deliver one-on-one tutoring sessions to students in grades K through 12
- Customize lesson plans based on individual student needs and academic goals
- Teach foundational and advanced English concepts including grammar, vocabulary, and literature analysis
- Assist students with homework, essays, and test preparation
- Monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly
- Maintain consistent communication with students and parents or guardians
- Use digital tools and platforms to conduct remote learning sessions
- Prepare instructional materials tailored to student learning levels
- Encourage student engagement and confidence in English language skills
- Support learners with diverse educational backgrounds and learning styles
Nice to Have
- Teaching certification or state licensure in English or general education
- Experience with standardized tests such as STAAR, PARCC, or state-specific assessments
- Background in working with students with learning differences
- Master’s degree in English, Curriculum & Instruction, or related area
- Proven success in improving student performance in reading and writing
