At Packt, we are hiring a Junior Workflow Automation Engineer to accelerate the adoption of autonomous, agent-driven processes across every business vertical. By building intelligent AI agents, you will free teams to focus on high-value creative tasks while maintaining responsible, secure, and ethical use of large language models.
What You'll Do
- Design, build, and deploy agents using agentic workflows and LLM APIs to automate and enhance Packt business processes.
- Partner with Verticals to map processes, surface bottlenecks, and deliver tailored AI solutions.
- Spend rotation weeks shadowing multiple verticals and roles to ensure agents solve company-wide, not siloed, problems.
- Connect agents to core platforms such as the CRM, CMS, e-commerce site, and BI dashboards through robust API integrations and scripting.
- Work with the Tech Team to uphold data privacy standards, monitor models for bias, and document mitigation strategies.
- Debug agent behaviour, profile performance, and deliver scalable, fault tolerant solutions alongside the Tech Team.
- Track metrics, gather feedback, and iteratively refine prompts, memory, and tool chains to maximize impact.
- Create clear documentation and training material for fellow Packt employees on effective agent use.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, data science, engineering, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Python plus familiarity with AI frameworks, RESTful APIs, and automation scripting.
- Relevant internship, capstone, or hackathon projects that demonstrate building AI, data, or automation solutions.
- Ability to quickly learn how different business functions operate and to propose fit for purpose AI automations.
- Strong analytical skills, a bias for experimentation, and a commitment to staying current with AI advances.
- Understand the pain points of each role by talking to people. Translate technical concepts to non-technical peers; gather requirements and run training sessions.
- Juggle multiple mini-projects, iterate fast, and thrive amid evolving AI toolchains.
- Proactively consider data privacy, bias mitigation, and compliance when designing agents.
- Stay current with LLM/agent advances, experiment with new frameworks, and share learnings across the organization.
- Proactively manage tasks, solve problems independently, and drive projects forward without needing constant supervision.
- Analyse information objectively, evaluate various solutions, and make well-informed decisions to solve problems effectively.
- Work effectively with others, sharing ideas, supporting colleagues, and contributing to group efforts to achieve common goals.
- Generate original ideas and develop new solutions that enhance processes, products, or services.
Nice to Have
- Experience with LLM APIs (e.g., OpenAI API), chatbot prototyping, Power Automate, LangChain, or similar tools is advantageous.
