Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and carry out high-impact user research initiatives.
- Support and manage research projects, recommending suitable methodologies based on project goals and constraints.
- Conduct inclusive research with diverse user groups, including hard-to-reach populations and individuals with accessibility needs.
- Examine the full user journey and account for external influences such as technical, policy, and business factors.
- Present research findings clearly and effectively to various audiences to build empathy and inform decision-making.
- Develop user research expertise through ongoing training, mentorship, and feedback.
- Assist in preparing proposals, bids, client pitches, and contribute to business development activities.
- Engage in internal projects such as thought leadership, practice development, recruitment, and team events.
- Participate in learning programs and certifications to support professional growth and meet organizational needs.
Requirements
- Demonstrated interest in user research and user-centred design, with a commitment to staying current on industry trends and self-directed learning.
- Practical experience in user research, including knowledge of various methods and when to apply them.
- Experience planning and conducting qualitative research such as interviews, observations, diary studies, concept testing, and usability testing, both remotely and in person.
- Familiarity with quantitative techniques like surveys to extract meaningful, actionable insights.
- Experience combining qualitative and quantitative data to uncover deeper insights and support decision-making.
- Skilled in analyzing and synthesizing both qualitative and quantitative research data.
- Strong abilities in storytelling, communication, stakeholder engagement, and facilitating sessions.
- Understanding of agile delivery approaches and their application in research contexts.
- Knowledge of Government Digital Service (GDS) service standards and design principles.
- Current SC clearance or eligibility to obtain SC clearance.

- Prior professional experience in a research or research-focused role.
- Bachelor’s degree in psychology, sociology, anthropology, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field with UX components, along with a passion for technology and human interaction.
