M&T Bank is hiring an IT Lead Auditor - Technology Infrastructure and Operations to lead assurance activities over the Bank's IT Engineering, Operations, Governance, Risk Management, and Architecture functions. You will be responsible for the full audit lifecycle, from risk assessment to reporting, and will help drive a modernized audit approach.

What You'll Do

Lead and participate in audits from planning to reporting, producing quality deliverables in accordance with professional standards.
Plan and execute other assurance activities, including continuous monitoring, product delivery assessments, and remediation plan validations.
Write audit findings that clearly identify risk and root cause, communicating them to Bank management.
Partner with stakeholders and business management while maintaining independence.
Effectively incorporate data analytics and automation techniques into audit phases.
Maintain subject matter expertise in your assigned discipline.
Coach, develop, and oversee the work of Auditors and new hires.
Contribute to the achievement of Division priorities.
Adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards and identify issues needing escalation.
Maintain internal control standards, implementing audit and regulatory points in a timely fashion.

What We're Looking For

A Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5 years’ relevant work experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined 9 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including 5 years’ relevant work.
A minimum of 1 year’s leadership experience.
Experience with internal audit methodology and a solid understanding of internal control concepts.
Experience evaluating the adequacy of controls.
Strong leadership skills and experience coaching and developing others.
Proven analytical and critical thinking skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Experience presenting sensitive and complex findings to business management and influencing change.
Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Experience in challenging the status quo and defending conclusions when challenged.

Nice to Have

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, Technology, Cybersecurity, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related technical field.
MBA or Master’s Degree in an appropriate field.
Related professional certifications (CIA, CPA, CISA, CISSP, cloud certification, or similar).
Financial services industry experience.
Strong experience in infrastructure auditing, preferably in the banking/financial services sector.
Working knowledge and experience auditing server operating systems, virtualization, databases, middleware, storage, network infrastructure, firewalls, VPNs, data backup, email systems, mainframes, and job scheduling systems.
Working knowledge of cloud computing risks and related controls frameworks.
Working knowledge of modern delivery practices and supporting tech (agile, DevOps tools).
Working knowledge of API Management and associated security risks.
Working knowledge of ITIL Standards and core IT services such as change, problem, incident, and asset management.
Understanding of regulatory requirements as they relate to technology in financial services.

Team & Environment

This position leads and executes assurance activities, maintains relationships, and communicates with Bank management, and oversees Auditors. You will report to an Audit (Senior) Manager.
