About the Role

Empower Retirement is seeking an Internal Audit Data Analyst to join our team. In this role, you will enhance the depth and efficiency of audit engagements by applying advanced analytics across planning, execution, and reporting phases. You will work independently to identify, access, and analyze large datasets to develop scalable tools and automations.

What You'll Do

  • Independently build, test, and deploy audit analytics that support the planning, testing, and reporting stages of the audit lifecycle.
  • Design and execute ETL workflows across disparate internal systems; ensure completeness and accuracy of data; develop and maintain strategic business partner relationships.
  • Create robust automated procedures such as scripts and workflows to support recurring audits and risk monitoring.
  • Create dashboards and visualizations that highlight risk and support audit conclusions.
  • Use data to assess internal control design and operating effectiveness; partner with auditors to embed analytics into their work.
  • Act as a liaison between auditors, IT, and business teams to understand data sources, permissions, and audit objectives.
  • Champion data-driven audit approaches across the Internal Audit department and with regional colleagues by sharing best practices.
  • Maintain comprehensive workpapers and quality checks for all data-related tasks and processes.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree with a technical discipline (computer science, information systems, statistics, actuarial science) or Bachelor's degree with a combination of business and technical disciplines.
  • 1-3 years' experience in data analytics, including consulting or project-based environments.
  • Proficiency in SQL and at least one other programming language such as Python or R.
  • Experience with ETL tools such as SAS/Alteryx and environments such as Oracle, AWS Redshift, and SAP.
  • Knowledge of data visualization principles and tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
  • Experience with process automation and related tools like SharePoint, PowerApps, or Alteryx.

Nice to Have

  • Regulated financial services experience, such as with a broker-dealer, investment advisor, or asset management firm.
  • Familiarity with generative AI tools like ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini to support creative problem-solving, research, and task automation.
  • Detail-oriented and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Familiarity with internal controls and risk management.

Benefits & Compensation

  • Compensation range: $67,600.00 - $95,425.00
