Employment Hero is hiring an Intermediate Software Engineer (PHP). In this role, you will be accountable for building a high-performance, scalable WordPress site from the ground up. You'll design and develop bespoke solutions tailored to modern WordPress architecture, utilizing the full potential of the Gutenberg editor with a focus on performance, security, and minimal reliance on external plugins.

What We're Looking For

Experience in PHP development with a strong background in Laravel, Symfony, or other modern PHP frameworks.
Willingness to learn and work with WordPress and Gutenberg.
Solid understanding of OOP, design patterns, and SOLID principles.
Experience working with MySQL/MariaDB/PostgreSQL, including query optimization and database design.
Strong understanding of version control systems, particularly Git.
Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, Docker, or cloud-based deployments (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
Experience with unit testing & E2E testing.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or collaboratively in a team.
Familiarity with Agile methodologies and working in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to Have

Proficiency in building and integrating RESTful APIs.
Some experience in developing custom WordPress plugins and themes.
Understanding of JavaScript, particularly React (used in Gutenberg blocks).
Knowledge of modern frontend technologies such as React, Vue.js, or Tailwind CSS.
Familiarity with headless CMS architectures.
Prior experience working in a SaaS or product-based company.
Experience working with hosting infrastructure, Reverse Proxy, CDN, WAF, etc.
