Oxford Preparatory Academy is seeking a part-time Instructional Assistant to directly support a certificated teacher. In this role, you will reinforce instruction, work closely with students, and help create a safe and caring educational environment where scholarship is expected and differences are valued.
What You'll Do
- Assist instructional personnel with the development and presentation of learning materials and exercises.
- Tutor individuals and small groups of students to reinforce instruction as directed by the teacher.
- Monitor and oversee student drills, practices, and assignments in various subjects.
- Confer with the teacher concerning lesson plans and materials to meet student needs.
- Assist with the implementation of lesson plans and monitor students after instruction.
- Oversee and supervise students during classroom activities, recess periods, and field trips.
- Read to students, explain words and meanings, re-phrase materials, and provide similar learning examples.
- Assist in the administration of score tests and compute and record grades.
- Maintain student records and files.
- Confer with teacher about program and student needs.
- Observe and manage student behavior in classrooms, lunch areas, playgrounds, and other environments.
- Monitor students during outdoor activities as directed.
- Report on student performance and behavior.
- Use positive reinforcement strategies and other appropriate techniques to assist students.
- Prepare teaching materials.

Team & Environment
You will work under the supervision of the Chancellor and Director of Student Services and Accountability, and as directed by a certificated employee. You will report directly to your assigned Certificated Teacher.
